Are people in your circle also hooked on comedy shows and stand-ups or is it a queer trend only among my acquaintances?
Well, I have few peers who nag me to share comedy suggestions as if I am a content drug lord with an infinite supply (Sorry, but I can’t break my cover).
“Got any new comedy recommendations?”
The frequency of this question fascinates me.
You must have experienced something similar, right?
My assumption is that we all want to be happy in life.
Yes, of course.
And what’s a vital trait of a happy life?
Laughing
And what’s the easiest way to laugh?
Comedy
However, if that’s the case, all of us should be happy. There’s an abundance of comedy content nowadays.
Unfortunately, that isn’t true.
My theory is that our obsession with watching sitcoms or standups is more like papering over cracks.
It temporarily numbs your pain but your life problems will still be yours to tackle at the end of the show.
Remember no amount of comedy shows will handle your mess.
Also, these videos impart a different kind of happiness, not the one you picture in a happy life.
That elusive ever-present smile you are after comes from living a good life.
When you face life’s challenges head-on. You are proud of your efforts irrespective of the results. At the end of the day, you are smirking because you know you gave it all.
They say you glow differently when you are happy.
Comedy gigs are great. I watch them every now and then to take a break from my busy life.
However, they are usually short-term fixes that will never impart that glow.
For long-term sustainable happiness, you have to work on yourself (that’s the secret).
That’s it for today. Have an awesome week ahead :)
True that!I have found myself consuming content without realising it was just to escape from reality for a while. It had actually become a routine.
But thankfully,I did realise the pattern and now working towards it to escape it!
Have a great day ahead Shubham!
