My sister and I hold mutual admiration for each other but rarely express it.
In fact, we hardly communicate.
I bet many sibling relationships are not close to the gold standards shown in the movies and books.
And now it’s hard to tweak because that’s how we grew up. The behavior is both comfortable and acceptable.
We both intrinsically decided to rejuvenate our bond but didn’t want to commit to something huge like a phone call for example.
Finally, we settled on a little ritual where we share two new songs a week.
It’s preferable that the songs aren’t mainstream, which makes it likely that the other one hasn’t heard them.
Each week I hunt for new songs which is an arduous task because she listens to a wide range of music. Usually, the ones I share are already in her playlist, but she appreciates the gesture.
Also, she gets super mad if I fail to reply to the songs she shares.
We have been doing it for a few weeks now.
It hasn't improved our relationship drastically however it’s a start.
Here’s the list of our recent exchanges.
