Helloπ folks, Shubham here.
I am back with another edition of Random Musings.
Just Another Reunion

In the last few months, we witnessed F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Harry Potter reunions which wereΒ elusive dreams for many (I still havenβt watched the latter).Β
Now I have got another reunion on the elite list - School Reunion.
You wonβt believe but I, along with a friend of mine (who is doing all the work while I take the credit)Β are conducting a school reunion for our batch.Β
I have met several school friends after the mass exodus because of the pandemic.
The common theme in all the meets was people genuinely want to meet their old batch mates, know how they are faring in life, their relationship status, and other routine gossip stuff.
Realizing this, I thought, wouldnβt it be cool if we had a school-level reunion for our batch?
It seemed like an arduous task. Just for your info, I donβt use Instagram and am connected to only a handful of students on WhatsApp.Β
However, being a big believer that the universe reacts to your vibrations I posted a WhatsApp story suggesting a school reunion with minimal expectations.Β
And guess what?????
We are having a reunion on 13 March with close to 25-30 people.
I know the number isnβt that big, but still, itβs nothing short of a miracle. Last time I saw most of them was in school back in 2014. 8 years is a very long time.Β
Everyone is super pumped for the meet.Β
I am praying the food is good and the DJ plays some kick-ass songs or else my friends count may drop even further.
Hoping the reunion rekindles a few friendships.Β
PS: I missed my school farewell which is a story for a different newsletter. Maybe this might make up for it.
Bookshelf π
I read Beartown by Fredrick Beckman.
Absolutely loved it.
This is my fourth Fredrick Beckman book.
Although there are fixed themes in his writings like how lost adults feel or the friction between dads and sons, I still love them.
The book is hinged around a small diminishing town named Beartown which is failing to compete with the big ones.
Ice hockey is the only means by which it can regain its past glory.
He reiterates the same ideas using different analogies.
Beartown is a bit different than the usual Beckman books. It's more serious and poignant. Loyalty, betrayal, love, sacrifices, ethics, morals, heartbreaks, fights the book has everything.
This is the first book that ends with several cliffhangers. Looking forward to the second part.
Thereβs also a web series with the same name on Netflix. I would recommend go with the book if feasible.
I have made 81 highlights in the book which makes it harder to share a favorite one.
If you are honest, people may deceive you. Be honest anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfishness. Be kind anyway. All the good you do today will be forgotten by others tomorrow. Do good anyway. - Beartown
There Is Nothing Wrong With You

There is nothing wrong with you
Or the things you do
Life is rough
It makes us tough
One needs to stick
In order to tick
In the end
Your efforts transcend
Failure is a blip
Just a minor slip
Do your thing
Else regrets will sting
There is nothing wrong with you
Or the things you do

Apparently many readers are struggling with smartphone addiction. I plan to do a dedicated newsletter on how I am trying to fight it.
Hope you enjoyed this edition.
Signing off for today :) Until next time, Houdoe! πββοΈ

School Reunion? Sounds Nostaglicπ₯Ί Do you mind writing the next letter about how did the reunion go?
It took me back to the farewell day's memories
Probably the last time when we all friends were togetherπ₯Ί
