Hello👋 folks, Shubham here.
I am back with another edition of Random Musings.
Someone’s Definitely Watching
I have been in a few grave problems which could have ruined my life yet nothing malicious transpired. In fact, they turned out to be perfect lessons for the upcoming hurdles.
Not sure about you but I often feel that God has assigned a dedicated guardian angel to watch over my ass.
Obviously, it’s one of the hardest jobs in the universe given my poor decision-making skills.
And not just that, time and again life blesses me with great people, ventures, and experiences.
Running a newsletter, having an online book club, going on vacations along with other delightful adventures mysteriously materialize.
There’s a quote that perfectly sums my emotion,
You don't have to name your lovers, you don't have to name the cities that you will move to, you don't have to figure that out. You just have to find the feeling place of what you're looking for and the Universe will lead you right there. And when you get there you'll say: "Oh yeah, you're exactly what I meant."
- ABRAHAM HICKS
I usually end up with more than I imagined (or deserve).
The equation won't make sense until you accept a certain higher power is running the show. I am not a deeply pious person however the way my life unfolds often makes me ponder.
This is an appreciation for my guardian angel, Thanks Bro!
Bookshelf 📚
I recently finished One Night in Italy by Lucy Diamond.
The best thing about the book is Lucy’s writing style which is crisp and funny.
The book started with a promising buildup with three lead female protagonists fiddling with their respective life crises.
And that’s the issue with the book.
Anyone could guess their paths will eventually cross and they will end up helping each other overcome their troubles.
It becomes way too predictable. Everything falls into place like a happy movie. There were several coincidences that are hard to digest.
That’s not even the most annoying part.
What bugged me was that the majority of men showcased in the book were dorky womanizers.
Yes, there are shit dudes out there but not all men are cheap.
It was a turnoff for me so won’t recommend it to anyone.
Here’s my favorite quote from the book,
“Whereas while you're travelling, nobody really knows. While you're travelling you still have the potential to do anything, be anything. It's only when you stop and actually try to do those things that you discover your own capabilities, I guess.”
Those Audacious Promises
Yesterday while commuting to the office I saw a bunch of excited school students chasing each other around.
Took me only a moment to realize that it was probably their last day of school life.
All the white shirt canvases were painted with colorful signatures of fellow classmates.
Everyone was running high on emotions trying to leave as many autographs as possible assuming it would preserve their bond for eternity.
A part of me wanted to tell them about the harsh reality of stepping into the real world (I am often accused of being the party pooper).
How everyone will eventually be busy with their lives and the WhatsApp groups that regularly beeps like a heartbeat will be dead as a stone.
I wonder how many lifelong friendship promises being made would stand the test of time.
But I didn’t want to ruin the moment. Atleast for the time being they seemed full of hope and light.
Like many of us, they will realize the burden of those well-intentioned words.
A few years down the line those same shirts will leave them with a bittersweet feeling.
Of all the signatures, how many names can they identify, how many faces can they recollect, and how many do they still speak to?
PS: My friends and I didn’t do this signature thing I don’t know why?
Hope you enjoyed this edition.
Signing off for today :) Until next time, Houdoe! 🙋♂️
Your words are simple and we can easily relate to your experiences. I hope you will continue to write...
