Helloš folks, Shubham here.
I am back with another edition of Random Musings.
IĀ Donāt Understand Why This Hurts So Much
Thereās a lovely video of John Green and Rainn Wilson (a.k.a. Dwight Schrute) talking about romance. They discuss breakups. Rainn emphasizes the importance of acknowledging the grief tied to these events. It represents the end of something, and the end comes with pain that we must face, whether we want to or not.
He compares moving on after a breakup to getting a cyst removed (thatās Rainn). If someone tries to move on without really processing it, thereās a good chance they'll relapseākind of like a cyst coming back if it wasnāt fully taken out.
John shares his breakup experience from when he was 22 and got dumped. He confided in a friend, expressing his confusion over why it hurt so much. His friend responded, āIt hurts because it mattered.ā
What a profound answer! It hurts because it matteredāso simple yet so powerful.
This insight is a crucial part of the healing process, not just for breakups but for many of lifeās disappointments. We often recognize our pain but struggle to understand why it affects us so deeply.
Ultimately, it hurts because it mattered. While this realization may not lessen your pain, it can provide a sense of closureāsomething to build upon in the future.

I read The Year I Met You by Cecelia Ahern.
Our protagonist, Jasmine, is a typical workaholic who finds herself in quite an unusual position. Her co-founder/friend has sacked her from the company and put her on gardening leave.
Whatās gardening leave, you ask?
Essentially, for the next 12 months, the company will pay her salary in exchange for her not being able to work commercially.
A workaholic being asked not to workāwell, that leaves plenty of time for her to flirt with all her unwanted thoughts.
And Jasmine isnāt the only one struggling with a mid-life crisis; there are others, too, which makes the book more relatable.
I was concerned it might be just another typical romantic novel, but thankfully, it wasnāt.It turned out to be a light-hearted contemporary romcom that suited me well.
Yes, itās predictable and slow-paced, but overall, the book does justice.
Hereās my favorite quote from the book,
āI know now that we never truly stop, our Journey is never complete, because we will continue to flourish- just as when the caterpillar thought the world was Over, it became a Butterfly.ā
Starting from ScratchĀ
This week, we had a deeply moving encounter at the office. A young woman came in, her back and waist all strapped up for support. She noticed our worried looks and opened up about how sheās been dealing with the aftermath of a paralysis attack for the last two years and even had spinal surgery. In fact, she was the daughter of one of our clients who recently passed away.
Since her dadās death, thereās been no one to manage the family business that her grandfather started back in the '50s. She and her mom canāt stand the thought of it all coming to an end, especially with the family values tied to it. So, sheās been going around to connect with all her dadās old contacts, trying to keep the legacy alive.
Itās incredibly inspiring to see her determination. Even though she doesnāt know much about the business, sheās pouring her heart into it, driven by love and a sense of duty to her familyās history.
There are a few takeaways from this story. First off, guys, donāt take your health for granted. Seriously, treat your body right with rest, exercise, hydration, and a decent diet. It wonāt guarantee youāll be fit forever, but we can do our best.
Second, life can be unpredictable, and weāre all mortal, which makes it so important to cherish your relationships, especially with those who matter most. You never know when it could be their last day (or yours).
Lastly, practice gratitude. Itās easy to think life sucks, and maybe compared to others, it does, but there are plenty of stories out there thatāll make you appreciate your current situation a little more.
Hope you enjoyed this edition.
I hope everyone feels a little optimistic and upbeat with the festive season upon us. The change in the weather, complemented by the festive smells in the air, brings bouts of nostalgia.
Signing off for today :) Until next time, Houdoe! šāāļø
