Hi 👋, Shubham here.
I am back with another exciting dose of Soul Letter.
What our new subscribers are saying?
Very refreshing and entertaining.. 👏👏
It was insightful.
Ekdum motivate kar diya tum!
Bahoot inspiring stories likh rahe ho, Ro donga me padke insabko😭
Thank you guys, Let’s begin.
Routine Update
In the previous newsletter, Tokyo was misspelled as Tokoyo, but I guess not many people noticed. My bad😅
Several readers loved the 'Adding what to your why' advice.
The open rate for the last mail was 72 % ✌️. Open rate is the number of unique people who opened your email, divided by total email recipients. (Not surprising, considering I literally pinged everyone to check their mails 😉)
The subscriber count has crossed the 50 mark🔥 currently, it stands at 60.
First And Foremost
Whitelist soulletter@substack.com🙏
In several cases, the newsletter went directly to the spam or promotions folder, due to which readers missed it. A way to tackle this is to whitelist the Soul Letter email id.
One option is to save the email id in your contact list.
The second method is to create a filter, in which you can specify the mailbox where the mail should be kept.
Watch the below video to avoid missing another newsletter.
The World Needs You
The majority of gyan or hacks I preach are not new. In fact, the things I write about have already been known.
Occasionally I feel like an imposter, still, I do it. Do you know why?
The other day I was aimlessly scrolling through social media.
Out of the blue, a post showed up reminding me to drink water💧 and I realized, "Hey! I haven't had a single drop of water since morning."
Now we all know the importance of drinking water, yet forget about such a trivial activity in daily life.
In the same way, I may be writing repetitive mundane stuff, but it is a nice reminder about things we see, observe but don’t always say out loud. Nuggets of wisdom, not new, but need to be noted.
If you ever feel like an imposter or you are not making an impact, remind yourself, “The World Needs You!”
The Generation Gap
When I tell people I write✍ blogs, my contemporaries usually ask what I write about, while the elders question how much money can one make by writing?
I was pondering🤔 why does this happen?
I think our generation grew up under affluent conditions. We had fewer responsibilities and pursued any hobby we desired. Money was never a concern.
The previous generation, however, was raised with a frugal mindset. They had limited resources to work with. Making money was a top priority for their careers.
We live spontaneously, making decisions on a whim while our parents do a thorough examination, analyzing all the outcomes before making a call.
Maybe the difference in our upbringings is a legitimate reason why we often have contrasting views.
And for all our curious readers, I have made 0 money through writing till now😅
Mental Health
Simone Biles's withdrawal from various Tokyo Olympic events has got several eyes-rolling 👀. According to the official sources she did it in order to focus on her mental health.
Previously Naomi Osaka also withdrew from Wimbledon due to anxiety and depression.
Each one of us struggles with mental health issues. We might not be severely depressed still feel low at times.
To all the readers, please talk to a close friend or family member whenever something feels wrong.
We have many young readers. I want to tell them anyone can get overwhelmed. There are no minimum age criteria to ask for help.
The same goes for elders.
These are strange times. We have been unwillingly allotted the front row tickets to the 'Pandemic Life'. Plus social media adds fuels to the fire.
Its good people are opening about such issues which were considered taboo for so long.
Motivation😇 Time
Video Recommendation
Watch a 6-minute short movie about a dad and daughter named Abandoned.
Thank You MARY KOM👊
Mary Kom lost🥺 in Round of 16 at the Tokyo Olympics. A big shout-out to the 38-year-old, mother of 4 for everything she had done for our nation.
Final Words
The weather has been very kind during the entire week. Cool breezes & rain 🌧 have taken over the heat🥵 waves. I assume most of our Indian readers must be enjoying similar weather.
Looking forward to a fun yet productive weekend.
Enjoy😎 your weekend guys.
Until Tuesday, Houdoe!
