I still remember the thrill I felt when the Indian Premier League started years ago.
Cricket was the only sport I followed back then.
It was surreal to see International cricketers playing together in different teams. Ricky Ponting and Saurav Ganguly playing in the same team was nothing less than a miracle.
However, with every season, I realized the commercial aspects of the game which the child inside me couldn't comprehend.
The game, I truly loved became just a form of entertainment, something like WWE where everything is scripted.
It's hard to ignore that the majority of matches end up being nail biters, the number of no-balls and drop catches, the frequency of super overs, and much more.
It's ludicrous to say all the matches are fixed, but it doesn't feel authentic either.
It's scary to think the league which began with a noble intention of bringing different players together, has become bigger than the World Cup.
Like many others, I lost the love for the game eventually and I feel IPL had to play a big part in it. There have been proven match-fixing scandals to add fuel to the fire.
This brings me to today's question.
Do you think Indian Premiere League is scripted?
You can also vote on my LinkedIn poll. As per the current status, close to 60% of the people feel IPL is scripted.
